The montessori method

The Montessori Method considers the process of learning among the most important means of life. The method is based on Maria Montessori's scientific observations. Montessori began working as a doctor for children with mental disabilities. Through scientific observation, she studied how children interact and learn. She gave the children different materials to play/work with and studied how they dealt with the material and its' surroundings. She observed that children go through different phases of development. Her method is developed on the basis of these observations as well as studies in psychology and anthropology. It was her belief that children's education is an important instrument for creating a better society.

The Montessori method is a holistic approach that includes the individual's development from childhood to adult age. The method follows the child's natural development.
